Director of the film Peter Ormrod covered a news item for RTE in the late 70s.
CONNIE KIERNAN and brother in law MICHAEL DONOGHUE spent 6 months and all their savings constructing their own Wall of Death in a rural back garden in County Longford.

Inspiration came from the Elvis Presley film Roustabout while a visit to Tommy Messham’s show at Funderland in Dublin gave them an insight to the dimensions and construction.
RTE’s news report did little for their dreams of sponsorship and fame.
The wall deteriorated and became spread far and wide after a storm.
Their story however entertained millions as a cinema box office hit.
The 1980’s saw Peter Ormrod developing this story into feature film material.
Tommy Messham Snr was engaged as consultant to the production company Strongbow and Charles Winter agreed to ride a reconstruction of Co.Longfords landmark, doubling for actor STEPHEN BRENNAN.
In 1985 the scene was set within 40sq miles of peat bog, a unique and striking location.
Dave Bickers motorcross champion, provided motorcycles and rigging also teaching the actors to ride.
Today Messham’s Wall of Death uses in their show, the very same 125 Honda saved from the ashes of the films wall.
